What is the Albaicin? Good question. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Granada. It is where the Moors lived. It has a bunch of Islamic influence on the architecture, narrow streets, and what felt like a million steps. It also has the best view of the city and the only mosque left in the city. ISA took us on a walking tour of the neighborhood on Friday September 28th. Here are the sights we witnessed.

I love how this street is lined with plants.
The left shows remnants of the wall that once surrounded the neighborhood. On the right there is an old mill stone.
I do enjoy a pretty door. On the far right of the left picture you can see our tour guide Rosanna who is in charge of housing for ISA students. Also, you will come to notice there is a lot of white in this area. It is not only common here in Granada, but also across Andalusia. It was chosen for its economic properties as far as not needing to put any other colors into the paint and white being able to reflect the heat from the sun.
There were occasional pops of color in some parts.
A few more casual pictures of our walk to the top. I really enjoy the stone work that they use throughout the area.
Oh, hi Heidi and Courtney.
There is a mosque at the top of the climb. We did not go in but here is the courtyard of the building.
Just look at that view.

Pano. Some casual mountains, the Alhambra (which I sadly will not be visiting today because I am going to Amsterdam instead,) and the city.

And some pictures of my pretty friends. Obviously I did not take these because the quality is too good. I stole them from Caitlin’s facebook page. hehe. On the bottom from left to right, Me, McAlister, Caitlin, Reagan, Allison, Courtney, and Heidi. This is everybody that came on the tour so it was really enjoyable being in such a small group.
Alright I need to wrap this up so I can go meet my friend Kailey to head to Malaga to fly to Amsterdam until Sunday. I am not proofreading this so lmk if there are any mistakes. I still have my Saturday excursions blog to post but it will probably be a few days before I am able to get it. I am busy here in Granada let me tell you! Between all the siestas and the late nights (we eat at 930) it is a rough life LOL. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Hasta luego!
